This is a beautiful idea that I've been hearing a lot about lately: a small card you can carry with you and discretely slip to a mom who is nursing in public to say "thank you." I've designed my own wallet size card for you all to print out. The 10 card sheet can be downloaded here.
This is awesome! If my printer wasn't broken i would totally print these out and carry with me :D!
ReplyDeleteGr8 idea!!!
ReplyDeletethis is completely awesome :) i just may have to print some out next time i have access to a working printer!
ReplyDeleteWhat a GREAT idea! Have always been a FB follower but have just started following you from my own blog.. http://itscalledorganisedchaos.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great info!
x
I love this idea!
ReplyDeletethis is awesome! what encouragement! especially for a new mom
ReplyDeleteI LOVE these! Will definitely print some as soon as my printer starts behaving again. (What is it with printers going on the fritz now?) These will join my autism awareness cards as Must-Haves!
ReplyDeletewhat a brilliant idea - I'm going to print a few off and spread the joy
ReplyDeleteABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!!! Yes I am SCREAMING that cause it is so great of you to think and do! I WILL be handing these out!!!
ReplyDeleteIf someone gave me a card like this I would cry. This is totally awesome! I'm nursing my second child and am still amazed at how many people stare or give me disgusted looks even though they see absolutely nothing. I wear a nursing bra, nursing shirt and an Udder Cover. My last incident was a teenage boy working in a restaurant staring at me like my head was going to start spinning and green puke would come out of my nose. He watched me for 15 minutes - and he wasn't on break. Thank you for the encouragement you are providing!!
ReplyDeleteJacquelyn and others .. maybe, just maybe some of the people who stare are fascinated and learning something! Maybe they've never seen anything like it before. Maybe they never realized what breasts really are for! Back in the day when I breastfed in public .. until she was four and a half years old .. I smiled at those staring and tried to be friendly rather than angry. I guess it was my way of handing out a "its ok what I'm doing" card. Like most things in life, the doers have to be the educators!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea. I hope I'm still BFing my toddler when I next get to the US. Here in Australia we've got anti-discrimination laws protecting BFing mums to some extent.
ReplyDeleteabsolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this idea. I always felt looked down upon for breast-feeding in public. I was asked to use the fitting rooms or restrooms for "my privacy". Well if I was worried about "my privacy" I wouldn't have been breast-feeding in public (or in general) at all. But anyways, this is a nice idea to let those FEW woman know that they are doing the BEST thing in the world. I absolutely love it and hope that I can hand them out left and right. I would have loved to receive something like this when I was breast-feding to let me know I had supporters no matter how many rude people tried to ruin my day. As always I have said my child comes first and if she was hungry in the milk isle, she got fed in the milk isle. I would even pull the car over to nurse or sit facing backwards in the backseat while her father drove, so she could eat...............
ReplyDeleteI will hand these out ESPECIALLY because my #2 cannot nurse (insert long story about several physical issues) and I can't be an example myself. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awsome, encourging idea, I always try to make eye contact and smile when I see a mom nursing in public. After nursing 3 kids for the first year plus, I know how intimidating it can be nursing while your out and about with your baby. We need to make these moms feel encouraged and accepted, thanks for making that easier!
ReplyDeleteYou know there is an ad in the upper right corner for "BUY BABY FORMULA ONLINE"
ReplyDeletewhat's up with that? LOL :)~
Glad you guys like the cards! I hope they make some nursing moms out there very happy!
ReplyDeleteJaxmomsanurse - Unfortunately I have no control over the ads. They are generated based on keywords on the blog. The word "baby" might be what causes formula ads to show up. Annoying, I know!

ReplyDelete-A former Breastfed Baby
LOVE THIS IDEA!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI often want to say something, but it feels far too creepy! :D
Coming from a first time mom of three weeks without support, this is wonderful. I am BFing, out of natural instinct and practicality and bonding and and... I feel bad for women like my mother, when she had her babies, they gave them a bottle and bound her breasts. Bfing is so special....
